I've been longing impatiently for spring. I've been scrutinizing the tell-tale signs: a minute more daylight in the evening, a slightly more golden quality to that light. Yet somehow I was surprised today to find that my garden has gotten on with the business of spring without me. The snowdrops are looking tired while the crocuses beam -- sunshine with dewdrops. Bluebells and tulips in sheltered places shoot three or four inches out of the ground and the grass needs mowing. When did all that happen?
Linking to Sunlit Sunday.
Editorial Retraction: These sunny little shoots endured a skiff of snow this morning. Perhaps I spoke too soon.
It's a miracle each time I see those little Spring bulbs poking their heads up through the snow!
ReplyDeleteThe snowdrops are my favourites, shyly hanging their heads, but the marking on each flower is perfect!
You've turned your back on Winter Cristal once these arrive! Yea for you!
they are so pretty and cheery. We have had a beautiful weekend with temps in the 50s and sunny skies. I fear that this is just a little taste of spring and will not last for us. It would be very unusual for spring to come to us this early.
ReplyDeleteI'm envious of you gals on the west coast, in Ontario we won't see our spring bulbs for quite a few weeks yet. I've scrolled back a couple of times to really enjoy your blooms.
ReplyDeleteHi Cristal,
ReplyDeleteHow fresh and revitalizing the tiny dewdrops look on your sprouting petals! Yes, spring has that knack of showing up, from one second to the next!
Wishing you a sunny week ahead!

Beautiful pictures. I think we are all anxious for spring color!
ReplyDeleteI trust the skiff of snow hasn't harmed the gorgeous yellow crocus blooms, Cristal. It's funny how Mother Nature can lead us in one direction and then shift gears and veer off in a different one. A dusting of snow or not, I enjoyed seeing your green shoots and blooms.
ReplyDeleteI planted more crocus bulbs last fall and am trying to be patient.
Hoping your enjoying a Sunlit Sunday,
Karen
I see that crocuses are popular on Sunlit Sunday this week. Love the bright colour of yours. Snow again this morning here.
ReplyDeleteNO way, you have ssssprrring? Not fair, we have more snow, lol.

Such pretty photos...Spring can come with a whisper or a roar...just come!!!! Smiles...Susan
ReplyDeleteYour garden certainly looks a lot more like spring than our yard, still under 2 feet of snow!
ReplyDeleteYou are soooo lucky! Only a hint of spring in our garden.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it lovely when you get a little surprise like that? I hope the snow hasn't damaged things too much. xxoo
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how the garden does that sneaky stuff behind our backs...when we least expect it.
ReplyDeleteI love the back to top button, and it's so easy to apply.
So sorry it's taking me forever to return comments, just so behind and still deleting, and deleting.
